Texas doesn’t require a pre-licensing course for its General Lines or Personal Lines licenses — you can go straight to the Pearson VUE exam. The catch: 4 in 10 first-time takers fail, and the retake is harder. Our courses are built for the exam itself, section by section from the official TDI content outline.

Both courses include the full toolkit: timed exam simulators, topic quizzes with explanations, flashcards, cram notes and instructor support.

The course follows the official exam content outline in order, so the weight you give each topic matches the weight the exam gives it.
TDI structure, licensing and the temporary license, Texas auto rules, TWIA windstorm and the FAIR Plan, prompt-payment deadlines, CE and renewal — in their own unit, not scattered footnotes.

No. Texas does not require pre-licensing education for the General Lines P&C, Personal Lines, Life & Health or Life licenses. The one exception is the temporary 90-day license, which requires 40 hours of pre-licensing education plus a sponsoring agent.
Pearson VUE administers Texas insurance exams at test centers across the state. Online-proctored delivery has been discontinued in Texas, so you will test in person.
Harder than most people expect. Roughly 60% of first-time takers pass the General Lines P&C exam and about 63% pass Personal Lines. Repeat takers pass at a much lower rate, which is why targeted practice matters.
Complete fingerprinting through TDI’s vendor, then submit your application through Sircon or NIPR with the $50 fee. Licenses are issued for two years; renewal requires 24 hours of continuing education, including 3 hours of ethics.
The P&C course covers the same property and casualty content tested on the Texas P&C Adjuster exam. For the All-Lines Adjuster license, see our adjuster course on the Pre-Licensing page.
